1Frustration with Nautilus  Nov 05, 2008
By Steve C. Lochow "lochow2"
I bougth a brand new 4600 CL online. It did not work from the day I got it and I have now had it about 1 month. It will not work over level 12 (It should go up to 20). At level 12 I can only get my heart rate to 130. I have been dealing with Nautilus/Stairmaster for a month now with no progress. They keep assuring me they will fix it (as it is clearly under warranty). I so wish I could send it back, but that's not easy to do with piece of equipment of this size/weight. So I am stuck with a $3400 piece of broken equipment. This is incredibly dissapointing as I debated on this expensive purchase for weeks.

I use a 4600 every other day for my cardio. (The other days I use a Precor elliptical.) The 4600 has an alignment issue for me - the handles are too far away. I find myself struggling to stand up straight on this thing after awhile. On the 4200 they had what looked like a wide-based paperclip-shaped handle that was closer to your body so it was easier to stay verticle, and focus on your motion.
The 4600 I use is in a gym at work and it gets a beating and has been reliable over several years. Nobody takes care of it.
But this issue makes me give it a middle-of-the-road rating. I don't know why they didn't pay attention to the alignment.

Great product that is not easilty found in health clubs anymore. I find it is unmatched by its exercise potential with low impact and good aeorbic function. I can read and exercise at the same time.
